Best Essential Oils For Happiness, Series 3

This is the third in a series of blogs about the best essential oils for happiness. When the cost of goods increases, our buying power decreases along with our happiness. Using essential oils during these challenging times may help put a positive spin on your outlook while not breaking your pocketbook.

Geranium has joined my list of the best essential oils for happiness. It's uplifting, mentally balancing, and helps relieve stress and anxiety. It promotes positivity, and Geranium is also one of the best essential oils for skincare because it helps balance the skin's sebum production. It is a natural astringent, increasing blood flow and improving skin tone and elasticity.

Geranium oil blends well with Angelica Root, Basil, Bergamot, Carrot Seed, Cedarwood, Citronella, Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Lime, Neroli, Orange, Petitgrain, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood. It can be added to cream, lotion, bath salt, massage oil, and body and face mist to enjoy its benefits. Add Geranium oil to a diffuser along with some of the above to create your own aroma.

Fun Facts about Geranium Essential Oil

  • The plants originated in South Africa, the Island of Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt, and Morocco.
  • Of the over 600 varieties, only about 10 supply essential oil in viable quantities.
  • The average garden geranium produces far too little oil for extraction. The most viable varieties stand about 3 feet high and are often used in hedgerows.
  • This oil is often used in soaps and perfumes and combines well with other essential oils to make fragrant blends.
  • Geranium and Rose essential oils share the components of geraniol, linalool, and citronellol, which is why they can have a similar aroma. Rose oil is only extracted from the flowers, but Geranium oil is mainly found in the leaves.
