The long winter months have us yearning for warm beaches and all the aromas associated with a vacation. Unable to hop on a plane post haste, we’ve whipped up (literally) a Coconut Lime & Mint Sugar Scrub to turn our shower into a mini vacation.
The thing is, this feeling happens every year. Every. Year. At THIS time of year, one of two things needs to happen when you live in Minnesota…a vacation to a warmer location (preferably on a beach) or a MASSIVE batch of our #diy Mojito Body Scrub! We know…it’s hardly even comparing apples to oranges but hear us out. This scrub was sent from up above with how it seems to understand what our skin needs this time of year… and the smell… AMAZING. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Here’s the recipe…we would recommend 2X or even 4X-ing this one to make sure you never spend a winter month without it!
Gather ingredients & utensils below
-1 cup of sugar
-1/2 cup stable unrefined Coconut oil
-One tablespoon lime zest
-20 drops Lime essential oil
-5 drops Peppermint essential oil
-wide mouth mason jar
-large mixing bowl
-Coconut oil may be linked to many potential benefits for skin, including reducing inflammation, keeping skin moisturized, and happy!
-Lime essential oil is one of our favorite EOs for skincare. It is a natural antioxidant, giving it the ability to help to remove free radicals that damage cells, including those of the skin. It also helps reduce signs of aging, such as fine lines, sun spots, and wrinkles. Along with its added benefit of being astringent, this essential oil helps keep the skin firm.
-Peppermint essential oil is an excellent choice if you are trying to brighten your skin! Added to help give you that healthy, radiant glow!
Here is what you will do-
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer till combined and spoon into the jar.
Enjoy. Use anytime you need a little extra “vacation time” and be whisked away.
There are several different methods of extraction used to obtain the essential oil of a plant. Today we want to talk about two of the most common methods - steam distillation (which is mainly used to produce essential oils) and solvent extraction (which produces absolutes, like our Jasmine Absolute).
