Aromatherapy for Pets

I’m sure it’s clear by now that we all love using essential oils daily.  And now, we’re excited to reveal that we’ve developed a line of soothing aromatherapy mists for pets!

The past few years have been difficult for everyone, including our favorite adorable companions.  Now that everyone is starting to venture back into the world, there have been a lot of reports of pets suffering from separation anxiety.  Your faithful furball, who has been by your side through zoom call after zoom call, may now be struggling to cope with suddenly being alone for more extended periods of time.

We use essential oils to help us cope with stress and anxiety, but they’re not always safe to use around animals.  That’s why we’ve created two pet mists that can help soothe Fido’s nerves.  Our Pet Mists are made of a proprietary blend of true hydrosols, crafted to be the safest and most effective way to soothe your favorite companions naturally!

What is a Hydrosol?

Hydrosols are the fragrant waters collected during the process of distilling essential oils. They have properties similar to essential oil but are far less concentrated. Hydrosols also contain water-soluble compounds not found in essential oil. They have a softer, more subtle aroma and a gentler action, making them the best way to use aromatherapy with animals.

Less Stress Aromatherapy Pet Mist

Our Less Stress Pet Mist contains hydrosol from the sweet-smelling orange blossom and other soothing botanicals. It has natural sedative properties, offering physical and emotional relief from anxiety. It can reduce panting, whining, and destructive behavior associated with anxiety in pets.

Calming Aromatherapy Pet Mist

Our Calming Pet Mist is emotionally supportive and nurturing. This heavenly scent has a light, sedative, and calming properties and can reduce shivering and lack of focus associated with fear. It is also beneficial for minor skin irritations and maintaining healthy skin and coat sheen.

How to Use

Before you use any aromatherapy product with your pet, it’s always a good idea to test for any adverse reactions to the product. Spray a small amount on a cloth and let them smell it. Make sure you allow them to approach the fabric on their own. If they initially reject the scent, you can leave the cloth for them to approach again. Sometimes it takes a few exposures for them to adjust.

To use, spray and wave the pet mist over your pet's head so they can get the mist in the air movement of your arm.  Use during periods of anxiousness or stress to calm and relax your pet.  Other uses include:

  • Add to natural pet shampoos and conditioners to maintain a healthy coat and skin
  • Spray a little into your hands and rub over their coat for shine and to deter fleas and ticks
  • Freshen up furniture, rugs, and smelly bedding
  • Naturally cleanse minor skin irritations and wounds
  • Mist in the car to ease travel anxiety

As with using any product on your pet, always exercise caution and good judgment. Start gradually and monitor your pet closely.  Our aromatherapy pet mists can provide real and tangible benefits for your pets but are not meant to treat or cure any significant illness or disease.  Always consult your veterinarian with any concerns.

What are the different fragrances of hydrosols in your pet mists? My pet is very resistant to nail clipping by jerking her paw and gets stressed making it nearly impossible to trim nails.
