Citric acid excels as a fabric softener because it neutralizes the alkalinity of laundry detergent, acting as pH adjuster which brings your laundry’s alkaline pH closer to that of our natural skin pH.  This makes it an excellent non-toxic alternative to commercial softeners.  Additionally, because citric acid works effectively to remove limescale it may prolong the life of your washing machine with regular use!

We are here to tell you it is no “old wives' tale” when people say adding baking soda to your regular amount of liquid laundry detergent will make your colored clothing brighter and your whites whiter. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and cleanser, and it softens the water as well, which means you can get away with using less detergent. Much like citric acid, baking soda also helps keep your machine clean!

In a large airtight container combine

-2 cups Baking Soda

-1 cup Citric Acid

-20 drops Lemon EO

-15 drops Lavender EO

Stir or shake well and add 1/4 cup to each load of laundry!
