Wyndmere Naturals, Inc., established in 1995, is a small, woman-owned business in New Hope, Minnesota, with Cyndi Trachy as majority owner and President.

An old friend who'd been living abroad came to me in 1995 with an idea: it's hard to find reasonably priced, high-quality essential oils in the US, so let's start an aromatherapy company. She was crazy... wasn't she? Leave my career, in my peak earning years, with a young family to support? Turns out she may have been on to something. Months later I found myself measuring lavender into cobalt blue bottles in my basement while my husband built display stands every evening in his workshop and my son and daughter sniffed countless blends to see which ones worked.

Somehow we convinced stores to put our oils on their shelves. We went from one shelving unit to two, then five. We hired employees and expanded into Wyndmere's first warehouse in 1999. In those early days we'd scoot around on rolling chairs wondering if we'd ever fill the space. That question was soon answered as we grew from one bay to two, then a larger building, and in 2016 a larger one still. Our Wyndmere family grew in number and diversity as we added sales and customer service, a production unit, and a shipping department.

For decades now, Wyndmere has held to one mission: bringing high-quality essential oils and aromatherapy products to market at an affordable price. Of the essential oils produced each year, about 96% go to the food, fragrance, and cosmetic industries. We import only from growers who supply the 4% dedicated to aromatherapy - plants grown, harvested, and distilled to preserve their natural character and aroma. We source from farmers skilled in environmentally sound practices: maintaining their fields, harvesting at peak conditions, and working with distillers who know how to capture a true, high-quality oil. Our oils are used by aromatherapists and wellness professionals who've come to trust our quality. From day one we've refused to abandon these core principles, and it's our pledge to you never to stray from this mission.

When I reflect on Wyndmere today, I see every stage of its past and its future. From the past, one woman hand-labeling bottles in her basement late into the evening. Today, our team laughing and chatting at a recent potluck. As for the future - when I look at my daughter, I see the young child who helped me pack orders in the basement, grown into a confident young woman eager to help run the business, the second generation. And when I look at my young granddaughters, I wonder: will they be the third?
